3G, international roaming and much more
Not only is BSNL claiming to be all set to bring you 3G by the end of this year, the state-owned telecom firm is gearing up to offer international roaming facility to its subscribers for prepaid, GRRS, and 3G services around the same time.
Reportedly, a senior BSNL official has revealed that roaming agreements for 339 networks in 170 countries have been signed by BSNL.
The soft-launch of BSNL's 3G services in Pune is enough evidence for the firm's readiness. The pilot launch will allow 2000 BSNL post-paid users in Pune to have access to 2 mbps data connectivity free of cost.
Since 3G is going to bring you better telecom services and offer more, it's going to cost you more -- as much as 20-30 percent more than what you pay for GRPS and EDGE services as of now, say sources. So, whether you like them or spike them, it seems that the state-owned telecom operators are going to bring you the much-awaited 3G services first after all. Are you planning to make 'the shift'?
