SAE (School of Audio Engineering), started off in Chennai in 2000 and has now expanded to various parts of the country.
SAE (School of Audio Engineering), started off in Chennai in 2000 and has now expanded to various parts of the country, i.e. Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.
SAE runs specialized courses in the field of audio engineering, animation / game designing & digital filmmaking. The organization claims to have a strength of approximately 1500 students all over India.
In Animation and Gaming, the students at SAE are trained using the CTT methodology (Concept, Technique and Tool). The careers that a media professional can choose from are Animation and effects, Character Animation, Composition, Creative Direction, Forensic Animator, 2D/3D Graphics, Flash Developer, Game Designer, Interactive Desiging and Web Designing.
In Audio Engineering, students work on softwares i.e. Protools and Nuendo. The opportunities could be in the field of live sound, dubbing, sound effects, background music, film sound mixing, composing, mastering, broadcast and more.
In Digital Film Making, a student could be an Assistant Director, cinematographer, director, editor, producer, special effects technician, Technical director etc.
SAE's internship and placement wing, ensures that students are placed on internships ranging from one to two months based on the projects. SAE has tied up with over 400 studios, post - production houses, animation companies and film production studios to facilitate successful internships.
At the end of the course, students get a professional portfolio along with the "Internship Certificate", bearing testimony of work done at a leading production studio (in the chosen field of study) as proof of competence to work in the industry.
Rathish Babu, CEO India Operations, SAE, said, "The industry internationally is on an upswing. Convergence and emerging technology has reduced cost of acquisition of infrastructure and this in turn, has given rise to more and more opportunities in the entertainment industry".
"Audio is now more culture-based with global tuning. guys if u want to join sae than join chennai's one.u would be fooled in othr branches. SAE Chennai provides 6 days a week ,3 hrs a day,18 months course and fees is 273000 for audio engineering.But Mumbai declares classes as 3 days aweek ,13 months course and fee structure is same.so all of u think yourself.

i am a former student of SAE Chennai, i joined dfm the fee was 3lakhs, it was pathetic faculty, poor infra, go to sae for audion engineering its ok, not for dfm and dmt they cheat. there are ppl like NSK who know nothing this is the fact the rest is your fate

As a former AUDIO student of SAE Mumbai, I can say that some of the below accusations are true. School lacks equipment, and so there are sometimes classes held only once a week. The college is not very serious. Also equipment is not very good, even the teachers will tell u that. But basics of audio are basics, and like u can learn how to drive in Maruti 800, u can also understand audio consoles by working on Yamaha or Mackie, u dont need SSL or Neve to learn. the main thing is to get concepts right, and SAE does not do bad job with that. But, your success in this line depends on your own hard work. So, if you spend the time off from college well, you can learn as much as in foreign colleges, for much less money. There is lot of information available on internet, and there are many good books on audio, which can reinforce knowledges gained in class. Also, Banan sir has very good knowledge. I would say that what I knew when I graduated from SAE was 50% from SAE classes, and other 50 % was from my self learning. There were other ppl in my class who did not put in extra work, and many did not even pass. some friends call me even today asking for help with work, because there fundamentals are not strong. Today I am happy with work I am doing, and see for myself a bright future. So, if u want to join college, work hard and make ur basics strong.

hi, i accept what you say but the thing is should not they be more honest when they charge such a huge amount of fee? leave audio engg just check out the realities with DFM and DMT its the worst one can get.

I was a student of SAE Mumbai, and anyone interested in going there should know the reality about this excuse for a college. I dont think the truth ever harmed anyone, and everyone has a right to know. First of all, it IS a reality that this college sucks, and how. Anyone saying it doesnt either did not have any other choice or is trying to convince (should I say con?) himself into believing he didnt waste his money. For the information of anyone interested in studying here, there are a few things you absolutely MUST know. The work load here is not nearly enough, so if youre planning to leave your hometown and come all the way to Mumbai (which, note, is not a cheap city to live in), you are WASTING YOUR TIME, as I have. The official amount of classes indicated per week is nine hours, which in itself is not nearly enough, but it gets worse. Thats the official figure. What actually happens when they have to give us practical training is they divide the class into batches, and each batch is called on one of the class days, meaning that if you have class on say monday, wednesday and friday, then you go for a total of ONE class in a period of nine days (thats three hours every nine days) . A complete waste of time, and absolutely ridiculous, especially for people who relocate for the purpose of doing this course. The reason they do this is simply because they do not have enough equipment to do it any faster, as far as I can tell. You should know that in comparison, an audio college in the US, UK or Canada guarantees a minimum of thirty hours of work a week, some even guarantee 45. Secondly, the teachers here are ex-SAE students (this seems to be a trend with SAE`s all over the world) who for the most part are quite inexperienced. I wont drop any names but I can say with complete confidence that there is only ONE decent faculty member in college, the Head of Department. Not that there are too many more faculty members to choose from. They are understaffed, under-equipped, the administration doesnt know whats going on half the time, they cancel classes for inane reasons like AC not working, no electricity, etc., and they charge 2 n a half lakhs. Absolutely Ridiculous. Btw, I am not a disgruntled student. On the contrary, Ive actually done very well in the exams and practicals Ive had so far, and am one of the top two students in my batch. Even these are in my opinion ridiculously easy, as Ive barely studied a few hours for each of my exams so far, though I have paid attention in class as well. If you have even half a brain, you would not go here after reading this. That is, if you have the choice of going somewhere else. I cannot comment on SAE Chennai, or any other SAE for that matter, but on a hunch I would say you should avoid SAE in general. There are a lot of better, smaller schools out there, mostly in the US, UK and Canada. Why am I writing this? Well, because I`m pissed off that SAE, with all their stupid glossy brochures are duping students (including me) into joining their crap course. If, as a result of this post, I can convince even one person not to join, I will have got retribution. And also, I`ll have done that person a favor ;). peace out

hey man chill out,even i was a student of dfm at chennai i think it is not fair to just pass comment until and unless you visit and see the facilities for yourself. But i would just like to add a word that i being a dfm student of chennai did make use of the equipments to the max when compared to my batchmates and i am quite convinced about the course because i knew what i was expecting and learnt it. Wherever you plan to study guys just keep one thing in mind until you put an effort to learn nobody is gonna teach you and if the teacher is teaching you, you need to put an effort to understand the technique and technology. Only then you can become a good film maker, for film industry is not gonna give you a red carpet welcome you need to go through hardships to prove that you are an efficient film making guy. so all the best and start taking your own decisions in life. I took my decisions and i stick by it.

Its well enough buddy..... i ve have completed my diploma in sound engg frm sae chennai..... i joined dat course soon after i finished my 10th... Now dey ve even Degree courses i believe...for dat i think minimum qualification is 12th pass.. Keep in touch....

If u can do d above three means.... y waiting.......surely u can do this course.... fluency is only a matter of one or two months.... dont waste ur time for dese kind of unneccessary thoughts n all..... hey anuj, the best place to do audio is SAE,Chn as well as Mumbai..check out whichever is nearby for you and call them up..

ohhhhh man do not find SAE or any other institute thats not recognized by the AICTE, if you want to join audio engg SAE is OK but forget SAE for dfm and multimedia

Sae People are fraud.. I m from delhi & Sae people were about to start Electronic Music Production course in dec 2006. I took admission for the course & submitted the sum of 50,000 rs. as the tution fees in advance.. I have got complete evidences against them including my invoice, receipts signed byt them with their stamp on it & prospectus & their mail also regarding their course back in 2006 which did not start only. july 2007 has passed & the course hasnt started only. Ive been fooled by a big name & tehy clearly refuse to make the payment.. My whole year has wasted becuase of them and I have a faced a lot of mental disturbance due to this. If they can do this with their students then how how can our future be secured learning from them. However i can not forget the tension they hhave given me and i have no other option left other than fighting and litigation..If anyone thinks this information is false just ask me for the evidences, I can mail you the photocopies. I don't this to happen to anybody else so better think more than twice before joining Sae..

Complete payment has been refunded to me now by the institute. It was'nt easy though after 8 months. I had to seek legal help to get my money back.

U may be aware of the BA (Audio Engg and Digital Film Making) course beginning this year at Chennai. My son now in 12 th std is interested in sound Engg. Would u suggest correctly, b'cse I want him to do well in life, and will it help? or Elsewhere ? Kindly guide.....
