Atari bets on online and social gaming

Troubled publisher Atari has been looking for some innovative approaches to rescue its sinking ship, and it seems that finally they have found a solution.

Phil Harrison, president of Infogramers (the parent company of Atari), has placed his bet on online and social gaming. The publisher is ready to release its latest game "Alone in the Dark" in June and believes that the game will mark a new beginning in Atari's future plans. He also said that he believes that the future lies in social gaming, and they will be aggressive in developing such games in the coming days.

Harrison added that the publisher is not going to make big-budget, single-player games. Immediately explaining his stand, he added that he doesn't mean that they won't do games with high quality and innovation as its core idea, but the games won't be single-player, narrative driven, and start-and-finish games.
