Asus: E-Monitor & Eee Box Coming Soon

The launch of the E-Monitor and Eee Box could galvanise the Indian market.
In an exclusive interview with Mint, AsusTek Global CEO Jerry Shen and Vice-Chairman Jonathan Tsang shared their plans to roll out Eee Box in India. While discussing India-specific plans, Shen mentioned that the Eee Box would be introduced in India and also revealed information about the iMac-like E-Monitor. Tsang further shared that Asus plans to rollout Eee Box, a CPU without monitor or keyboard, for an approximate price Rs. 14000 - 17000 in the month of September.
The portable Eee Box, which could be small enough to carry in your pocket, will feature Intel Atom processor, 160GB Hard Drive and will be Wi-Fi enabled. Launched earlier this year, the Eee Box consumes 10W power. The second-generation Eee Box would carry built-in battery to over the power woes and will be introduced in October-November. Zonbu PC with Zonbu Cloud OS with online storage comes with similar form factor, and is available for $300 from their website.
Furthermore, Shen shared more information on the E-Monitor, an all-in-one PC expected to be launched by the end of this year. Similar to the Apple iMac concept, the E-Monitor consists of a touchscreen monitor in 16, 19 and 22 inch variations while the Apple iMac is available in 20 and 24 inch models.
No further details were revealed about the processor, memory and storage that the E-Monitor would feature. The estimated price range of E-monitor starts from $500, which is less than half the price 20-inch Apple iMac, which retails for $1200. With a faster processor and better power consumption, Asus E-Monitor might turn out to be the iMac alternative in India, where space and price are major factors affecting purchase decisions.
