Asklaila for Information on Mumbai

With asklaila, users can search for local information across 650 localities in Mumbai, whether it's a private dispensary in Dadar or a spa in South Mumbai.

Bangalore-based Four Interactive has launched a new local information service called asklaila (www.asklaila.com) in Mumbai.

The service provides users a platform to search, review, rate, and recommend local businesses and services, thereby promoting user engagement with their localities, and enriching local information for the community.

With asklaila, users can search for local information across 650 localities in Mumbai, whether it is searching for a pub in Bandra, a coaching class in Dadar, or a notary in Andheri. It provides listings, along with information such as editorials and user reviews.

Globally, local queries constitute 63 percent of all search queries, with 41 percent of those conducting a local search having searched for something in their home area, and 52 percent of such queries being specifically for business phone numbers or addresses.

Four Interactive claims to have its own local information database, which is verified manually and continually updated to keep it accurate and up-to-date.

Currently, consumers have to rely on a variety of sources such as printed directories and city portals to obtain local information within communities and cities, which often turns out to be outdated, incomplete, or inaccurate.

According to Aravind SampathKumaran, chief product officer at Four Interactive, asklaila Mumbai has highly localized search features like Indian soundex that searches for words sounding similar but spelt differently; combined with great coverage and quality data about local establishments.

asklaila plans to expand its services across 33 cities in the country.
