Apple to Distribute Mac OS X Snow Leopard Builds

The first builds of Snow Leopard will be distributed to limited developers only.
Apple will unveil first builds of the upcoming Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard soon, reports AppleInsider. As we reported earlier, the Snow Leopard will focus on operating system performance and stability. The first builds of Snow Leopard will be distributed to limited developers only.
Grand Central feature of Snow Leopard will allow developers to author applications that can exploit multi-core processor of Mac machines.
Snow Leopard will keep user-oriented feature implementations aside but will add a couple of specific implementations such as optimized QuickTime for modern audio and video formats. It is also rumored that native Blu-ray support will be included as well, and added to that theoretical system memory limits of 16TB RAM for software will also be raised.
Reportedly, Snow Leopard will feature icon QuickLook technology that offers specialized preview options on the icons. For instance, a video or audio file can be previewed and heard respectively from the icons itself without opening the files with any media player. Also, the applications packed in the operating system will be slimmer, therefore hogging less storage space on the hard drive.
Interestingly, the feature multi-touch trackpad support feature of Snow Leopard coincides with the rumor regarding the upcoming redesigned and refreshed MacBooks that will have trackpads with multitouch support. With refreshed MacBooks and other Mac machines (hopefully), the Snow Leopard can truly demonstrate blazing performance. But Snow Leopard is work-in-progress stage currently.
