Based on two trademarks, rumor mills are juggling between names for Apple Tablet - iSlate or iGuide
Earlier this month, Financial Times reported that Apple had booked Yerba Buena Center for Arts, San Franscisco for a major product announcement on January 26, 2010. Fox News confirmed this with its Apple-based source that the company is holding big event but no details about product were obtained. However, Google China's ex-chief Kaifu Lee wrote on his blog that an informed friend told him that Apple Tablet looks like 10.1-inch iPhone screen with awesome UI. Honestly, just like many others, we had enough of Tablet rumors.
As per Lee's blog post on his blog, the Apple Tablet will be iPhone-esque touchscreen bearing tablet with amazing UI, 3D graphics, virtual keyboard, video conferencing, eBooks, Internet and other functions. All this will come at sub-$1,000 price and most likely be announced on January 26, 2010. It's being said that Lee's current investment venture - Innovation Works has Foxconn
Earlier, MacRumors stated that the Apple Tablet would most likely be called iSlate for the domain acquired by Apple. And now dug up an old Apple trademark which points at iGuide Media, LLC, Delaware-based company. The iGuide Media company's trademark ownership carries signature of Apple's Senior Trademark Specialist Regina Porter.
It appears like iGuide is likely to be some service related to Apple Tablet since the trademark filing reveals computer hardware and computer software for accessing, browsing, searching, recording, organizing, storing, transmitting, receiving, manipulating, streaming, reproducing, playing, and reviewing audio, video, games, music, television, movies, photographs, and other multimedia content.
At this stage, it's too early to jump onto any conclusions based on the rumors and old trademarks. Why are we forgetting the Tablet Mac trademark was acquired by Apple from Axiotron recently. If Apple is launching a Tablet on January 26, 2010 what would be its name after all iSlate, iGuide or Tablet Mac? Take your guess.
Expect more hardware failure rumors that would say Apple stalls Tablet production and so on. Always secretive and tight-lipped, Apple is playing silent observer at the moment and will speak on January 26, 2010.
First of all, I love my iPone! put Apple needs to work on it's battery life and changing AT&T, I'm sick and tired of losing important calls. And maybe! I'll get this new TabletMac. I have an idea Apple should put-up its own satellite in space!! and forget AT&T what do you think?
TabletMac is the best name. I was underwhelmed from the first with all those iproducts. It worked for Apple though, I'll admit. Let's see something new (in the way of inames) now.
I was thinking of buying an iMac Pro but 2 things put me off. Price and the fact that "Apple Users" are so brown nosed.
Firstly price, in Ireland a 15" Mac will set me back 1700-2000 euro, the mac fan(atic) tells me i will not regret buying the super machine. On the other hand I could buy a top of the range windows machine with 8gb ram 1gb graphics and get some change. And its a fact that most software is developed for windows (+75%).
Now i do have an iPod that is a sexy machine, i love the look and feel of it, but functionality wise it is poor. It does not have a built in radio, built in microphone, i cant delete songs from it (only through iTunes), yet i can have these functions in most mp3 players, even 5 years ago. Yes!, Apple do "Sexy" but they dont do "Techie". Dont get me started on how Sexy the iPhone is, yet it doesn't have a good GPS, no Proper turn by turn Sat Nav and i need an Apple Mac to develop any applications for it. I would buy Acre or HTC HD anyday.
If this iSlate is going to cost 3-4 times the price of a netbook, what is it going to give me for the price "Sexy"
One last comment on Apple Mac users. The Mac is used buy a lot of artists, musicians, photographers etc.
Guys, just because you buy an Allpe Mac, you don't automatically become an artist.
Thanks
Happy New Year
Garry
Whatever you call it, Apple once again will dominate a market where Windows based products have failed. Why ? Apple OS and Apple Design.
Both are light years ahead of anything any other company had developed.
List of functions
E-Reader, TV Viewer, Movie Viewer, Cell Phone, Email, Web Browsing,
Video Phone, Handwriting To Text, Audio to Text, Voice command,
Photo and Video Editor, Drawing and Painting and true web apps.
Enough?
Oops, forgot its a laptop, desktop, iPhone, iPod under $1,000.
Yeah !!!
It's about time to see what all this secrecy is about. I'm a mac user, however, I ams ure Apple will release a jaw-dropping product... hopefully available in canada at the same time as the US....
