Inspiration and imitation are often abused words. While we've seen so many cheap knockoffs of popular products, Apple has finally grabbed a patent for the iPhone and the iPod Touch's 'ornamental' design reported MacStories. This basically means that anyone who designs and sells iPhone-esque mobile device should be ready to get sued by Apple.

Apple has been sued several times based on the technologies used in their Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. But now Apple has managed to grab the patent for design of its iPhone and iPod Touch exterior. From the US Patent & Trademark office link, Apple had filed the request, with Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive listed as inventors for the iPhone (2009) and iPod Touch (2007) designs.

So what about the cheap knockoffs and imitations that several people have already purchased and are using? Well, you may just continue using them, for no new iPhone imitations will be seen from now on.
