Apple: Failure to Launch

Techtree News Staff, Jul 15, 2008 1400 hrs IST

Will the glitches in Apple's Security Update and MobileMe affect future sales?

Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, today announced that the sales its 3G iPhones crossed a million, and App Store applications downloads crossed 10 million, in what is its best opening ever. All this, in spite of the twin disasters of the Security Update and MobileMe.

The reasons for this sorry state of affairs - Apple servers couldn't survive the extreme traffic caused by over-enthusiastic iPhone users wanting to download the iPhone 2.0.

Apple could have avoided the mess easily enough, if only if it had positioned the availability of the downloads appropriately. Apple advocates are shocked that this disaster may come to be associated with their favorite brand, one that makes classy products and offers unmatched service.

This time around, much to Apple's horror, and critics' delight, the company has not been able to live up to the expectations of its aficionados.

Perhaps this could have happened to any company carrying the burden of expectations. But whatever the reasons, a glitch is a glitch is a glitch. But will this glitch affect the future sales figures of Apple products? Only time will tell.

Much of this "DISASTER"... If you can even call it one....which its NOT... IS OVER. The products AAPL designs and develops speak for themselves. This GLITCH is a lesson to AAPL that they will learn from and make better the next time. Maybe you should look a little more closley @ MSFT and VISTA.... THAT my friends is a DISASTER. The winds came and went with the iPhone G3 launch.... VISTA did not have to deal with the winds, but it sits on the most unstable earth I have have ever seen and it is a problem that will be VERY difficult to rectify it at all. The fact remains that AAPL has supirior products and the other hand set OEMS and carriers only wished they had the same problems that AAPL had.... DEMAND FOR A PRODUCT! Yes time WILL tell and the future looks very bright indeed for Apple Inc. iJah420 says the #ers will speak for themselves. Have a grateful day.
