Altec Lansing has announced the latest addition to its inMotion family of portable audio products, the iM9.
According to reports, Altec Lansing has announced the latest addition to its inMotion family of portable audio products, the iM9, which is being touted as the SUV of portable iPod speakers.
The company says the iM9's hardy shell and back-pack style carrying-case allows users to keep-up with the bumps and bruises of their active life-style.
The iM9 is a multi-tasking speaker system; is 11-inch wide, 3-inch deep, and 7.8-inch high; and weighs only 4 lbs. It is AC or battery-powered, and requires four C batteries operation. It sports a sleek, black design and has a rear kick-stand.
Speaking at the launch, Jessica Chua, regional marketing director - Asia Pacific & Middle East Regions, Altec, said that iM9 is light-weight and compact, and that it will offers consumers another iconic design for portable audio.
Sachin Kadam, product manager, Rashi Peripherals, said that while the iM9 carries Apple's "Made for iPod" certification, and works with the iPod nano, iPod Mini, iPod with dock connector, and iPod with color display, it can also double as a speaker system for other devices. Kadam said the unit comes with a supporting input that allows users to plug-in audio devices such as CD, MP3, and portable DVD players.
The iM9 portable speaker system is available from leading Rashi Partners and Rashi branches in the West, the South, Madhya Pradesh, and Chattisgarh in India. The suggested price of iM9 is Rs 10,900.

I have been searching in vain for an Altec lansing IM9 portable speaker system. The listed distributors on the official Altec Lansing website have no information regarding this unit other than 'Its not available'. This product has been launched in India. Any help regarding availability will be greatly appretiated. I am willing to pay Courier charges from any city.
