Alienware M17 Gets ATI Crossfirex

Alienware's high performance notebook M17 now has ATI's CrossFireX technology. AMD proudly claimed Alienware's M17 to be the world's first notebook to be powered with ATI CrossFireX technology. The M17 will be able to exploit multi-GPU power with Microsoft DirectX 10.1 support.
AMD's ATI CrossFireX technology directly competes with rival Nvidia's SLI technology, each has a unique feature. The M17 is shipped out with only one ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 with a 512 MB RAM. An additional ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 can be added at a price of $250.
The M17 can support entry level Intel Core 2 Duo (P8400) to Intel Core 2 Extreme (QX9300) quad core processors. It can also support 4 GB DDR3 1066 MHz RAMs and 1TB storage with two 500 GB HDD support and an optional Blu-ray drive. AMD's Unified Video Decoder aids HD 3870 in smoother HD video playback and faster video decoding. CrossFireX's benefits can be enjoyed only on high resolution display, for which one will have to spend $200 more to upgrade from a 17-inch WXGA 720p to a 17-inch 1200p HD display. The gaming notebook also features a fingerprint reader for security.
Alienware's M17 will be available at a starting price of $1400. The ultimate gamer enthusiast can upgrade the M17 with all the upgrades available, which would boost the price to above $4600, eventually leading to the gamer's bankruptcy.
