Interactive Personalized Television and video phone calling services have been launched, applicable to all Mumbai-based subscribers of MTNL Broadband.
In a press briefing yesterday, Aksh Optifibre and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) launched "A Tel" (IPTV services) and "V Spyk" (video phone calling services) for all Mumbai-based subscribers of MTNL Broadband.
"A-Tel" Interactive Personalized Television delivers television programming with high-quality reception and add-on features like time-shift television, video-on-demand, etc. With "A Tel", MTNL Broadband subscribers can now integrate television broadcasts with other IP-based services such as high-speed Internet access and voice over Internet -- all accessible on their television sets.
"V Spyk" is a real-time video phone calling service between users, enabling real-time communication at a more personalized level. With "V Spyk", subscribers of MTNL Broadband can make international calls to nearly 100 countries at Re 1 per minute.
Stand-alone "A-Tel" is available to subscribers for Rs 1,000 as reimbursable security deposit with six months subscription fees. An "A-Tel" and "V Spyk" combo is available for Rs 1,460 wherein subscribers will get an "A-Tel" set-up box plus one year free subscription, with access to 100 channels at no additional cost.
Speaking on the occasion, R S P Sinha, chairman and managing director (CMD) of MTNL, said, "With the endless possibilities available with IPTV and video phone calling services, the expectations are high, and MTNL has tied up with Aksh for the achievement of such targets and objectives for providing the best services for optimum consumer satisfaction."
Adding to it, Dr K S Choudhari, managing director of Aksh Optifibre, said, "Aksh was the first company to bring IPTV to India in 2006, and now we have done it again by bringing another cutting-edge technology - video phone calling service in India, for the very first time."
