Flash Player 10.1 on the Droid 2 is hardware accelerated
Folks over at Adobe have released an interesting video showcasing Motorola Droid 2, the company's upcoming Android smartphone running Flash.
While we all know that updating your Android phone to Android 2.2 Froyo will endow it with Flash support, the sad part here is that not many devices have been given the Froyo update treatment so far. Apart from that, Flash support in Froyo in other handsets like the Nexus One, the HTC Desire and HTC EVO 4G is enabled using a downloadable Flash application. That's not the case with the Droid 2 which gets Flash right out of the box, without the need for any installation.
Also, it is pertinent to note is that Flash Player 10.1 on the Droid 2 is hardware accelerated. This means that should you have a Droid 2, all you need to do to view websites in their full glory is to visit them!
Take a look at the afforementioned video here.
All this when Apple continues to stay away from Adobe because Flash supposedly "slows down" the systems makes the Cupertino based company look stupid right now.
The Motorola Droid 2 will be available soon in U.S.
I just got my droid x... damn them.. droid 2.. wth. I waited after the droid incredible came out to get the droid x, and soon after news about droid 2 started coming up everywhere... So.. about 3 days after droid 2s release I'm guessing they'll come out with "droid 2 incredible" or some crap like that. Damnit, let a product be relevant for MORE than a couple days PLEASE.
Watch the video carefully. The flash is sluggesh and the demonstrator has to make multiple touch attempts many times. The flash is noticeably slow on a very fast droid so I don't really thing it makes Apple look "stupid". Plus, we still have no independent tests of battery life with flash running.
Flash runs perfectly smoothly on 2.2 on my Desire, just the same as on a PC or Mac. and Flash Lite worked pretty well on it when it was 2.1.
The whole Flash fiasco was created by Apple and the sensation hungry press.
Verizon has released its Droid 2.
For Droid 1’ers, its 2 good 2 be true.
