Adobe has released Flash Player 10.1 for the mobile platform. It brings full support for Flash content on mobile devices starting with smartphones. Just to put Apple off, Flash Player 10.1 would be made available first on the Android based smartphones. The final version of Flash Player 10.1 is being made available to Adobe partners that include Research in Motion, Palm, Symbian and Microsoft.

Anup Muraka, director of technology strategy at Adobe, said users with Android 2.2 Froyo update running on it would be the first ones to get Flash Player 10.1 goodness. Eventually, Adobe will release the latest version to Symbian, webOS, BlackBerry, Meego, LiMo and Windows Phone 7 platforms. These mobile platforms would get Flash Player 10.1 by year-end or early next year.

New Flash Player 10.1 has been re-coded from ground up with a new foundation that scales across windows, Mac and Linux as well as mobile and TV platforms. Adobe noted that Dell, Samsung, Google, RIM, HTC, Arm, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel and Texas Instruments are the companies that support new Flash Player. Even content partners like Turner, Viacom, HBO, MSNBC and Photobucket stated that they were happy to see the new Flash Player 10.1 release.

Don't get excited as your current phones won't be getting Flash Player 10.1 anytime soon.
