I brought a Aspire 2920 recently, for 38900/- :(( An acer aspire has NO DRIVER SUPPORT for Linux, all of it need to be found on the net. Mine had Linpus Linux installed with no X-server or a window-manager with it! You'll need more than rudimentary skills to get all its components working. So buyer's beware!

I would prefer Zenith over Acer.... Quality wise both are same brand but Zenith is much cheaper than Acer...

Linux is much more robust than Windows any day. What worries me is the brand "Acer". As far as I have experienced, the feel is really pathetic. Its graphic and video quality is not upto mark... But when things come cheap, you have to compromise on quality.... Recommended for students and people who dont have much to do with computers.... If you really want to play high-resolution games and use it for your work, i recommend other brands, not Acer!

Well Buddy, don't you ever think that Linux is inferior to XP or Vista. It's the most powerful OS built ever and some versions of LINUX are far better than that of Vista when it comes to Graphics. So just relax on go ahead with Linux.

see i had very bad experience with acer laptops, generally they will give you a 4 cell battery, even if they will give you 6-cell battery it will be less than 4000 mAh. Moreover if you compare the screen it will be less brighter than comptn.Check the graphics chip they use,it will be non -intel like sis etc, also for intel they use inferior one.The dvd drive could be problem. My overall impression is since Acer is taiwanese company and uses cheap component from chinese supplier without much quality control, better beware of there products. See there website ,its design and feel will tell you how haphazardly it is built without paying much attention. for 2-3k more you can get better deal in other brands think again

"latest technology like 10/100 LAN" is so false. fast ethernet has been around for nearly 10 years, if not more. HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU CALL THIS LATEST TECHNOLOGY?????????

Please consider the price before making such comment. Probably you should do a Indian Laptop/Note Book MKT survey to see how many Companies offer high speed NIC Cards. This is not US, buddy this is India.

@ Rahul Agarwal, Are Acer's laptops value for money? YES, and very much so. I have been on an Acer Laptop for more than 3 years. I was so happy back then that I recommended Acer to some friends. In all, I personally know 4 people in my close circle who are on Acer. To my knowledge they have had a trouble free experience. Sure, you will find someone who had a bad experience with Acer. Then again, you can as easily find someone who had a bad experience with HP, Compaq, Dell, Lenovo, Sony, Toshiba etc. Acer is still considered an 'upcoming' manufacturer. So they make more efforts (than others) to deliver value for money products to the market. For e.g. @ 22K the above model from Acer is an outright killer. At any given time, for any given product type, there is a sweet spot where value for money is highest. In my opinion, for laptops, that spot is between Rs. 30000/- and 38000/-. Having said that, if you are going to use the laptop as replacement for a desktop (something I highly recommend) and not run any demanding games and/or graphic or computation intensive software, then I see no reason why you will be disappointed with the "low end" models (like the 22K featured here). Remember, the cheapest computer today is more powerful than the fastest computer just 2 years back.
