A Program that Unlocks the iPhone?

Apparently, the anonymous group includes six people from three different continents, who claim to have unlocked the device just as a hobby.

According to reports, an anonymous group of software developers claims to have developed a program that unlocks Apple's iPhone, thus making it operational on any GSM network across the globe. As of now, the iPhone is available only in the US, and is operational only on the AT&T network, under an exclusive two-year agreement between Apple and AT&T. The iPhone unlocking program was demonstrated by Los Angeles-based software consultant named Brett Schulte, who replaced AT&T with a T-Mobile SIM card, and within a few seconds, the iPhone became operational. Schulte said the procedure doesn't require opening or disassembling of the device, and unlocking can be done in just about two minutes. Apparently, the anonymous group includes six people from three different continents, who claim to have unlocked the device just as a hobby. The developers plan to put the software on sale, though no price has been finalized yet. They have also created a Web site called iPhoneSIMfree.com, which has some information on the program but does not give a way to purchase it yet. Meanwhile, an AT&T spokesman said that though they could not hypothesize on the authenticity of hacking the iPhone, they hurried to remind users that by buying the iPhone, they become contractually indebted to AT&T. A similar incident took place about a week back, where a teenager claimed to have found the way to unlock the iPhone, though by disassembling the device.

My iPhone has got an inner crack (Not on the Outer case but guess in LCD) as it was dropped on a concrete floor. Now Everything seems to be workign fine, but the screen is not visible very well. Touch is fine, and no crack on the outer screen. Any one knows if i can get it repaired somewhere in Bangalore? my no is 9886138822

Hi all,just for information for all of yu..we WILL NOT be able to software unlock the 4.6 bootloader iPhone until a new firmware Update is released(This is for Iphone's which are new box open with bootloader as 4.6 but if older one's which were updated to new firmware 1.1.2 v can be unlocked).. Now the reason is : Most of you know, that to Unlock the phone, the baseband firmware needs to be patched, but to patch a firmware means we need to delete the old one and flash the patched one, this was done with ieraser or anySIM or whatever way you unlock the phone. To erase the baseband firmware, you need to have the secpack, again i am not sure how many are aware of this With the old bootloader, the 3.9 one, you needed to have the secpack of your current baseband firmware OR the secpack of a newer baseband firmware to allow you to erase the Flash, the problem with the new bootloader is it no longer accepts the current secpack, only a newer one. Therefore, until a new firmeware upgrade comes along, we cannot erase the baseband firmware. Now that we have all that nasty stuff out of the way, i do have some good news!! Firstly, an exploit has been found in the new bootloader that should allow us to run anySIM, this is excellent news as many people where worried if there would be an exploit in this bootloader. So basically, When we get the next firmware update, once the secpack is retrieved, we should have no problem unlocking 1.1.2 with bootloader 4.6, however, after the next firmware comes out, we WILL NOT be able to update to it as we will then need the secpack from the one AFTER THAT to unlock it. What i feel personally is using a turboSim or other simulated Sim chips is nt a real unlock

Hi Siva, I hv bought an iPhone from usa. i hv unlocked it and used there with T-Mobile sim card. but when i try to use the same with AirTel, i am getting "iPhone can be used only with approved sim card" .. in usa, i tried with various cards and unlocked using the jai break. can you help me? due to this, im not able to use it for the past 20 days. The cost to pursue people contracturally is much more expensive than the value of the contract to ATT. That plus the bad PR would stop them. Exclusivity does not work well in today's world. Perhaps ATT can sue Apple for the money! Now that would be an interesting result.

At&t is NOT known for their compassion for their "victims", I mean "valued clients". They have enforced their scams, I mean contracts to the max. I also think that the only way the game is going to change is if people stop buying phones at a discount -if- they sign or extend their contract.
