A Gamut of VAS for MTNL Customers
Techtree News Staff Email Print
May 8, 2008
Starting today, MTNL Dolphin and Trump customers will be able to get alerts around astrology, cricket, news, stock markets, religious content, and so on, simply by subscribing to these services. MTNL has announced opening up of its entire gamut of value added services (VAS) for Dolphin and Trump customers.

To avail alerts, subscribers need to dial *123#; an individual subscription comes for Rs 30 per month while the combo pack is available for a maximum of Rs 50 per month. As of now MTNL is offering 21 different services but later plans to expand the number to 100, the telecom major said.

India is one of the fastest-growing mobile markets in the world with GSM operators ruling around 80 percent of market share with the remaining 20 percent divided between CDMA and WLL operators. Value Added Services are a surefire money spinner for telcos; presently, the revenue from VAS stands at around Rs 700 crores (by end of year).

MTNL's new service is developed in association with Contakt Tech Solutions India, and will serve MTNL's 1.6 million-strong Dolphin and Trump community.
