Mumbai-based notebook vendor ACi is offering a one-year free warranty on laptops of all brands that come in for repairs.
With the notebook market set to flourish this year, Mumbai-based laptop vendor Allied Computers International (ACi) is offering a one-year free warranty on laptops of all brands that come in for repairs.
Speaking about the offer, Hirji Patel, chairman, ACi, said, "Under the scheme, if a person gets a laptop of any brand for repair to us, once the product is repaired, the laptop will carry a one-year warranty from ACi. Except for the battery, everything else is covered under the warranty. The attractive part is that it comes at no additional cost, but for the cost of repair, which is at par with the market standards or sometimes even lower."
Currently, the scheme is running in major cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Thiruvananthapuram. The company is next targeting to take this scheme to A and B class cities.
"As laptops these days are not just a metros' product, we are going to make this offer available in the A and B class cities also. At certain places, we have our own Authorized Service Providers (ASP) who will be extending this offer. However, we are looking to appoint more such partners across the country," said Patel.
Patel expects this scheme to be working in top gear across the country in about four months' time.

My elder brother, who stays in Vasai, Mumbai [Thane District] needs a new Laptop. He is not a tech guy and therefore, I need to come up with some good options for Laptop. I have been trying to get various configurations and vendor list, which predominantly have the following options: 1. Latest Processor [Intel, AMD] 2. Min 60 GB HDD 3. Combo Drive [or Writer] 4. Min 256 RAM DDR OR SDR ?? 5. Really Good Back [as he is Vasai] 6, Upgradable Warranty till 3 Years. Further, advice on brands, their durability and services options. I searched and have found that Acer and IBM are quite good. Also tell me what kind of LAN card it should contain.
