Why has Apple let its iPhone inventory go dry without giving any indication about re-stocking?
Any which way you look at it, Apple's iPhone does manage to get around! Rumor has it that a Gen-Next 3G iPhone is on its way. Stoking the speculation are a couple of factors.
One, as reported by a leading tech Web site, a top-brass O2 (exclusive iPhone carrier in UK and Ireland) executive vaguely said that Apple and Telefonica (of which O2 is a subsidiary) will make a joint statement in 'the coming weeks'. Two, rather uncharacteristic of Apple -- the company has let its iPhone inventory go limp in recent weeks. The public announcement came earlier this week -- that Apple online stores in the US and UK have run out of iPhones -- with no indication whatsoever about re-stocking. O2 did much the same thing last month when it slashed iPhone prices leading to an erosion of inventory, giving no indication of renewing stock. Three, the much-publicized deals Apple is getting into with carriers across the globe. Take India for instance; apparently two carriers, Vodafone and Bharti Airtel seem set to market the iPhone in the country.
Meanwhile, Apple, in characteristic fashion, continues to keep mum about any such phone. For the showman he is known to be, Steve Jobs might be leaving the best for the last, i.e. the annual developers conference scheduled for June 9 this year. All eyes already on Jobs, have we?
hi...
im planning to buy the iphone 3g.. should i get one from the US? and if i do, can i unlock it in india and use it here
? or should i get an unlocked one from the US?
Steve Jobs is throwing iphones in indian market after 1 year that too with much higher price.Indians are very happy with this news and ready to spend more than what Americans are spending in US.No one should go for this phone.Shame.Nokia N96 has much better config almost at the same price even Sony experian x1 is much better. They at least value indian customers and release almost at the same time in india.
yes .. shame on Apple to consider INDIAN market - one of the fastest growing telecom market, so much for granted and pushing a product at a such a high price with a time lag as well.....
the N96 is 750 dollars US while the 16gb iphone is 499 US, and its not nearly as versatile as the iphone, specially if the iphone is jailbroken. Can't get it in 16Gbs either. Learn your facts before you spew crap?
you bengalis are famous only for shouting and are good for nothing peoples.
it is only the marketing strategy of company and nothing else.
just compare three phones you are talking about and see the difference.
I know, even you must not be having the two phones that are launched in India, and you are not going to buy iphone too.
What you can do is shout shout shout and shout..........
First of all the proce has not been set by apple and i reallly dont understand what this fuss is all about!! and secondly u need to understand that apple has been providing iphone with a 2 year contract with AT&T(legally using it that is). And third go get an iphone and then compare it with n95, both have their merits and demerits but n95 isnt even comparable with iphone interface and ease of use and coolness!!!
sony ericcson is releasing xperia x1 at a price of sweet 1000$ in US and expect the price in India to be much higher and u r saying its better than iphone?? give me a break!!
Do not ever compare iPhone with any of its counterparts. I myself have experienced iPhone, and its a awesome piece of technology in your hands.. Even if its priced at around 18K-2OK, its the phone to buy. But i feel it will be prices around 15K for the 8GB model. So, just grab one for yourself and enjoy!! dont shout anti APPLE slogans.. You might just miss the opportunity to say WaV!! to the technological amusements...!!!
please look for the most recent news and kep yourself updated.speaking crap is just dumb and foolish, that is what you are doing.iphone is the bestestestestest piece of technology.if you want a better cell then why blame?simply write to Apple o. regarding your problem.otherwise its shame to know you blaming all the way!!!!!! CRY BABY!!!!!!
Current iPhone version does not have features of that in 3G's. 3G features are like fast Internet (Edge), Video on Demand (VOD), Video Phone Calls and so on. Hope it helps
Verizon's Touch Phone costs 300 bucks and needs a 99.99 data service charge. It seems the iPhone has a better data price but the phone is a million dollars. Do you suggest 8g or 16g?
I GOT AN #G IPHONE!! THis is so cool my dad just got it on his way home from work. my bday is on saturday so ill tell u all how it is cus they might be sold out.
i just opened mine up and it looks exactly the same as the current iphone except a few things here and there. i'm not exactly impressed and it looks the same size but feels heavier. $400 for the 8Gb, sold out of the 16 and 32s

"3G" firmware has many exciting new features coming to the Iphone family. However, June's firmware update for the current model will place itself on par with the "3G" in terms of emailing capabilities. The main popular difference between 3rd Generation and the 2.5 "Edge" is speed but 3G is still in its growing phase and is not available in all areas. We're working on that...
The "3G Iphone" is to be released on June 19, 2008 at midnight in each timezone for the US at all Apple and AT&T Wireless stores with quantities dependant by location from 5 to 550 units for the opening morning, more to be available for sale at noon, 1 per customer/household for the first month. The cost will be the same as the current models at 8Gb-$399, 16Gb-$499. 32Gb to be released at a later date. There will be no major changes to the aesthetic hardware. AT&T will not be discounting the phone in the traditional manner, rather there are up to $200 in coupons towards accessories and MediaMall purchases. Stay tuned...
Yes, you got it right :) But there is even more "evidence" for uprise of a 3G Iphone. The 2.0 new Firmware has a on/off switch for 3G. You can only guess what that can mean. Secondly, AT&T have in an internal e-mail to it's employees written that no one can take vacation between mid june until mid juli because of a exciting new product ;)
Cant wait :D:D:D
I work for AT&T in the States as a sales rep. I have, in fact, received an email stating that there is a "blackout" period from June 15th until July 12th. In said period of time, there is no vacation scheduling allowed. That was the same last year when the iphone launched.
Just had my 8gb iphone stolen and called O2 to get it replaced, told to wait until June as a 3g type Maybe available and no stock of either model in Darlington anyway!
By delaying the launch the iPhone they have created a fool's market in India eager to jump on it . So they will sure make the initial customer's ( bakara's ). Remember what they did in US and what Reliance did when it Said their Phone is valued at 10,500/- for that black and White LG and later they actually sold it for Rs 500/- or free with Salt Purchases . Later Initial Buyer transfered that phone to their servant's to save face. Never Buy Initially. You get better model with-in 6 Months
Apple is known to exploit the customer's, I agree they are good. But not Flexible to markets.
Always something better if you wait in the technology world - it's called progress, so maybe just spend a lifetime "waiting"! Actually, if I had done what you say and waited six months, I would have recently bought an iPhone (after its launch in the UK six months ago), and so it would be outdated in a month or so when the 3G version comes out! Wouldn't it have been better to buy it at launch and get a good 6 months out of it FIRST, before the next model comes along? The next life cycle may be longer, though, given that the phone will now compete more evenly on paper (not in real life use, since the apple interface craps on all others, especially pocketpc) regarding specs of rival phones (3G, GPS).
Not as simple to generalise as you make out.
apple is going to launch 3g iphone in India with worldwide release and is going to price same as world market. prices can be high in India because of 2 reasons -- 1. heavy taxes in India. 2. in America they have contract with consumers that they have to use that telecom operator for 2 years. thats why prices are set according to different calculation. but in India they are coming with 2 carriers so they can't imply lock in period for consumer. wait n watch..
Why think about iphone,go for Philips Xenium X connect with all the advanced features +provision to use the ordinary AAA sixe battery in case of emergancy+++.
New 3 G iPhone is coming in June 08. O2 is set to loose monopoly in UK and is likely to share iPhone with or 2 other carriers? Further all Google ~Software is ready for new 3G iPhone and so the rumors go on. Perhaps best of al is the iPhone with another or other carriers will mean business tarrifs. If you see Steve Jobs Key note speech the whole thing is business orientated
Apple is going to open "Apple Store" in Ranganathan Street(next to Saravana Stores) in T.Nagar Chennai. Steve Jobs is going to announce this news in Annual Developers conference,SFO on June'9.
@Raj-- All knows that it is not a genuine iPhone (Made for India) that you are offering, a cracked version, isn't it? So, how about a bargain for half the price, we are used to it dude.
If look is that all matters, they just check this clone from China, and according to websites this is much cheaper. I'm trying to grab one of this model instead of going for iPhone (hyped).
Model: CECT P168
NB: I'm not advertising CECT P168, however would surely want to consider it.
All these phones are going to add more value to (VAS) Value added service . whether it may be video calling or fast data transfer .. but all we need is 3G in India . which i believ govt & telcom regulatory has understood and soon it will be launched ..
