We decided to pay a little visit to the grey market and catch up on what's hot and what's not.
Disc based-MP3 Players
This category is certainly the most affordable of the lot; one can get good brands with feature rich players for Rs. 5-6,000/-. The popular ones are from Sony and Panasonic, which boast of high battery life, good shock protection and a host of features. If you are planning to buy one, check the ones that come with the in-line remote, they offer better value for the features provided.
Digital Cameras and Digital Camcorders
The Panasonic SV-A510 D-Snap is a versatile digital camera, which doubles up as a MP3 player. The D-Snap is one of the slimmest digital cameras with a 2 MP resolution and a 1.5-inch TFT LCD monitor.
This small wonder comes for a modest price of Rs. 11, 500/- and the price was negotiable. The D-Snap might not appeal to serious photographers, but with its versatile nature and pocket friendly dimensions, the SV-A510 is a very cool deal.
The digital camcorder segment is dominated by Panasonic. The Panasonic Nv-gs 55 is the most common model found here. There is nothing ordinary about the features though, with an 800,000 pixels CCD sensor and 10x optical zoom, this camera is pretty powerful for its modest size. These digital camcorders come in the price bracket of Rs. 40-60,000/-.

Beware of buying the grey market products be it mobile phones or memory cards or any other electronic products. Although the prices in grey market are attractive but the stuff they sell is duplicate. Yes you have read right, all the grey market electronic stuff is duplicate. The product is made in unauthorized smaller factories in China and exported to India without labels. Then our great Indian seller thugs get the phones labelled and boxes made and sell to innocent people like you and me. Since I have come to know of this racket, I will tell to everyone. Also this grey market stuff goes bad after sometime and we blame the company for a bad product which they never made in the first place. All these companies have ruined their business by transferring their manufacturing technology in China. Chinese people have replicated everything. So if you are getting a memory card or mobile very cheap without bill, God can only help you with your duplicate goods purchase.
