An iPhone challenger?
Sony Ericsson has, along with a couple of other models, released the XPERIA X1. This multimedia/communication combo phone has an "arc slider," which means you can slide the screen sideways to bring out the full-QWERTY keyboard. The rumor mills say Sony Ericsson has outsourced the manufacture of the model to HTC.
The front features a 3-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen display. In a first for Sony Ericsson, this model will run the Windows Mobile operating system with Outlook and Office Mobile. The user interface can be operated either by the touch interface, an optical joystick, a 4-way navi-pad, or the QWERTY keyboard.
Connectivity options come in the form of Wi-Fi, 3.5G HSDPA/HSUPA, and aGPS. A 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera sits at the back. The 400 MB of internal memory can be expanded via microSD cards. The XPERIA X1 weighs around 145 gm and is 16.7 mm thick.
The phone is expected to get to store shelves in some regions around the world by the second quarter of 2008. No word on pricing yet.

The Price is too Expensive For the same feature you will get in HTC DIAMOND PRO or Little cheaper Version HTC TYTN II PRO They have all the features and also looks good. And more of all they use same Operating system.

i own a sony erricsson W910i walkman series cell phone.it has a particular feature of storing even those dialled numbers which are not saved..for example, when you start typing 984...on your keypad, it brings up a list of contacts starting with 9845 as you type the no. further, it narrows down your choices and ultimately the no..when you scroll through the list of no's the cell phone brought up on typing 9845..it also shows up a few other UNSAVED no.s..with this kind of facility, you can actually retreive those no's which you remember the first few digits only..does this feature also available on xperia??

xepria is to experiance allthing.May it be music or video or internet or games or photoz..I guess it may cost around 30,000 in India as it costs nearly 42,000 in U.S..Sony ericsson always rockz and the best quality of it is that it's aesthetics and appearance. Makin us to get envied on it all the times..Am sony ericsson user since 2000 and m obviously proud to be an elite and elated customer.

Hi the expected price in USA is $1200-$1600.so in INDIA it must go about 1200x43.8= Rs.52,560. This phone is FAR FAR advanced than Apple iPhone so dont even think comparing them.iphone is for $389 in USA.

Hey Omnia has 5MP and it's costing only 34000k. And HTC Touch Diamond is costing 25000k. So X1 will cost only 30000k. Or even below that. Then only it'll be successful in indian market. SE knows that. I'm waiting for this mobile. If it's too costly i'll go for HTC Touch diamond.

The Xperia X1 was supposed to be released on September 30, 2008, in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Sweden, but is in fact still not available. The US release date is expected to be announced on November 3rd, 2008, and in Q4 2008, Sony Ericsson is expected to announce the release date for other markets.

I think this masterpiece would be priced somewhere between INR 32- 35k. Considering the features it provides, it's definitely way ahead of the iphone as well as the HTC Tytn and Diamond. This will be first in it's class phone to provide a complete experience (thats why the name XPERIA) of entertainment and communication. It's worth paying that much... However my fear is that, once you buy this phone, it will be very difficult for one to commute using local mode of transport (else this will be stolen within a week of purchase :))

The Phone is expected to hit anytime in the market from now on. I spoke to Sony Ericsson Media person and they gave the prize range of somewhere around 30 - 35 K. So guys watch out for this. Cuz price doesnt matter if the mobile is fully loaded with exactly what you want. And hey watch out for the all black series. Its awesome and kewl.
