Will likely cut your bills too
Researchers in the UK have developed a "solar battery paint" that, once painted on to steel sheets, will generate ridiculous amounts of energy for anything that needs it. The project is being funded by the Corus Group, which hopes to use the technology to offset the damage that the steel industry is doing to the environment.

The paint is a liquid paste that goes on the steel sheets while they're being passed through rollers during manufacturing. It's designed to mimic plants' photosynthesis, and could potentially produce terawatts of electricity over time.

I don't think this will have major effects on energy crisis, as we can expect the paint to be costlier than anything else in the world. That too there isn't any word about what the chemical composition of the paint is. Ok , It might give you energy but the installation cost will surely be huge.
