Microsoft's Zune Line-Up

Oct 05, 2007 1810 hrs IST

Portable media players with a brand new interface

First it was the iPods - now it's the Zune media players from Microsoft. The new Zune lineup consisting of the Zune 80, Zune 8, and Zune 4 complements the old Zune (now the Classic Zune).

While the Zune 80 is HDD based, the other 2 have flash memory. The Zune 80 is lighter and smaller in size. It has a larger screen than the Classic. The new Zunes have a completely new interface and a 4-way touch sensitive D-Pad to give you a much better experience. The Zune comes with H.264 and MP4 codecs for video playback, which does away with the need to convert the videos to WMV. You can also sync to a podcast via the Wi-Fi module of the Zune. To be released in international markets in November, the Zune 80, Zune 8, and Zune 4 will be priced around USD 250 (Rs.10,000), USD 200 (Rs.8,000), and USD 150 (Rs.6,000).

How late can you bring a product to market? Looks like microsoft's strategy has gone crazy after bill gates decided not to take an active role.
