Facebook is undeniably the big daddy of social networking. No other social network has gained such acceptance worldwide on the World Wide Web. What started as a small network, went on to captivate the American audience and soon take over the entire online world. Facebook has become extremely popular in India too, especially after Orkut faded out because it had nothing more exciting to offer. Facebook has come a long way and is now one of the most widely used websites, capturing the highest internet usage worldwide.

Well, all this doesn't mean that Facebook is perfect. We like most of what it offered but there are some things that we would like to see on Facebook. We have put together a list below, which mentions features/improvements that we'd like to see on Facebook. The list below isn't in any particular order though. We'd also really like to know what you find missing in Facebook or something that could be improved.

Hate/Dislike Action

Well, this is something that comes first to my mind. It's so well-known that there are Pages and Groups on Facebook itself that are actually begging for this feature to be added. I too am one of those who have joined in the petition for inclusion of this feature.

Facebook Skins

There isn't anything much to dislike or hate in the Facebook skin. It's just that the option of adding other colour combinations lets one break the monotony, since we have to always come to the same website. The possibility to use custom colour schemes is still a possibility but why can't Facebook just provide a few standard ones. Is it too much to ask?

Audibles

There seems to have been a shift in the IM usage. I did see a lot of people skip the complex IM interface - or rather the highly functional interface of Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live, AIM, etc. - and move to a Google Talk. Google Talk is too bland but we all use this IM and don't bother logging into the other services. Anyway, the point of listing the IM services was to pinpoint a special feature we've seen in Yahoo and then even in Windows Live Messengers, namely an Audible. While it's possible for us to write text for friends, I think an option of actually saying something in your own tone and accent should be fun.

Face Recognition

Now wouldn't it be great if Facebook could recognize faces? Yeah, ideally it would need us users to sample an image of a friend and then Facebook automatically does the tagging by passing it through a face recognition filter.

I think face recognition is too much to ask for but Profiles Friends/Work/Family is definitely a requisite

As for face recognition, I think the functionality would be great, but there are other concerns - sometimes people don't WANT things tagged of them. if they were to have this feature, there would need to be something where individuals could disable it for their face.

There should be option where we can control which friends can see or ot see my friend list, otherwise the privacy is lost. As we normally would not want all my friends to see some of my friends. It happens. We should have control of it, whch presently is not there.

Twitter > Facebook > Twitter feature is already there for pages & you can use the twitter app or selective tweets for user accounts!

"Ideally there should be a provision wherein one can distinguish between what content can be viewed by which group. " There is. Get your facts right.
