The Idiot box is fast becoming the Idiot's box thanks to the Saas-Bahu dramas and the never-ending so called Mega Soaps (whoever thought of that name) that are broadcasted day in and day out. In such a world how often do you get access to your TV, especially when you need it for that half hour of Friends or The X-Files or for that exciting World Cup match? Well, it's a rhetorical question. We all know the answer, as everybody has to experience the same trauma. With certain channels still showing some sane programs, you wished you had another TV to view them or maybe some device like your old VCR to record the programs and view them later as per convenience. A tempting thought but certainly costly.
What if there was a device that would do the above for less than one third the price of a TV and a VCR put together? Sounds interesting! Luckily, there happens to be such a device. The device is obviously a TV tuner card. But can a TV tuner card give you the picture quality comparable to an actual TV? The answer is yes, at least with an Aviosys TV-EZ TV tuner card.
The package shipped with the card, a driver/software CD, an infrared remote with a pair of AAA batteries, and a host of wires ranging from the S-video cable, composite cable to the audio cable. The TV-EZ TV tuner card also included the Cyberlink Power VCR SE, a software that is bundled with most TV tuner cards. This software has a good-looking interface but users will take some time getting used to all the functions it has to offer.
This card has a Philips tuner onboard and supports a full screen display with a maximum resolution of 720 x 576 pixels at 30 frames per second. It supports over 250 channels, but the number of channels that it manages to tune and store depends on your cable service provider. It also provides an option to fine tune the channels – a useful feature that is generally missing in most TV tuner cards. Video can be captured and stored in either MPEG 1 or MPEG 2 format. The quality of the captured videos was as good as the original. The TV-EZ tuner card gives excellent TV picture quality and in full screen mode proves to be better than any of the TV tuner cards we have tested till date. It boasts of supporting Nicam stereo, however, we were unable to test this feature.
On the flip side the Aviosys TV-EZ lacks an FM tuner, which is fast becoming a standard accessory with all TV tuner cards, thanks to the FM boom in India. It would have been a good addition. Also, the package that we received was void of any instruction manual or an information sheet. A hard copy of the instructions would be necessary, especially for a novice.
Finally, coming to the most important criteria after performance, the price. The Aviosys TV-EZ has a competitive MRP of Rs.3800/-. The price may be few hundred Rupees higher than the conventional TV tuner cards but given the picture clarity, we can safely say that it deserves the premium. The card also comes with a one-year warranty.
Considering the overall quality of the product, its features, the supplied accessories and its price, this product should be your prime consideration when purchasing a TV Tuner card. It's certainly a good buy.

i have frontech tv tunner card but i don't have driver for this card i had download a driver from a random site on internet. from this driver i got clear video without distarbance in windvr or in the power-vcr but could not get sound from it. in device manager it detect like "conexant's btpci wdm audio capture" but in properties i found "no driver are installed for this device" so please help me how i got driver for my card

i have the driver cd. having the driver for the frontech tv tuner card if you also have the same then try to get vidio and tuner set in the sound properies by adding the newhardware setup it works
